Dear Kelly, Millie and Susan,

Millie, trust me your not bragging, your helping other people and it
doesn't matter how you do it as long as you can and want to do it. I really
admire you for what your doing. You ARE a good person.

I believe that everyone on this earth has a reason. I learned my reason
when I had my bone marrow transplant. When I was first taken into the
radiation chamber I got down on my hands and knees and said a prayer to
GOD. I also promised HIM that if he saw fit to still keep me here that I
would make it my business to try and help others that were going through
cancer.

I kept my promise to HIM well over 500 times in the last 22 years. I helped
start The Bone Marrow Foundation. I became a peer mentor for the Bone
Marrow Foundation as well as The National Bone Marrow Transplant Link and
many others as well. This was my word to HIM.

Millie, perhaps this is also your calling. Anyone that gives from their
hearts is a wonderful human being. This is probably also what you are
supposed to be doing. You know that when you help save someones life it is
one of the greatest feelings you can have. One day I would like to send
some letters your way about what many people wrote to me.

In Biblical times there was a Prophet by the name of Hillel who said; "He
(and it could be She) who helps save ones life is as he has saved the
entire world"

By the way, this is also for Susan and Kelly. Here you are suffering from a
disease and your doing the best that you can in spite with some battles
with depression. Everyone that has cancer always has some depression, and
that is OK unless you make that your lifes plague.

I have found that there are several emotions when you are diagnoised with
CML.

One. Hey, wait a minute this is a mistake, other people get this not me.
Two. I think that I will get another opinion.
Three. Why is GOD punishing me.
Four. Then depression starts to set in (Everybody gets it to some extent)
Five. Acceptance.
Six. Now let me just deal with it.

It may not be in this order but non the less this is what usually happens.

Positive thinking may not be able to cure cancer but it does help you go
through it and get the most out of life considering....

Millie, Kelly and Susan I wish you many 18's.

Marty
