As I just replied to Marko, these are Chrome apps and, yes, I'm accessing
Gmail via Chrome.  It's my default browser.  I use Chrome mainly for Gmail
and never noticed those icons when on other sites until just now, prompted
by your comment.  Regarding being installed on my other computers, they are
now all synced:

BTW, the apps are back tonight!  So now I'm even more curious as to what
happened.
