Anesthesiology Research and Practice

Aims and Scope & Call for Papers

Anesthesiology Research and Practice is a peer-reviewed open access
publication dedicated to the sciences of anesthesia, intensive care
and pain control. In more specific terms, research published in the
journal will include, but not limited to the following fields:

o Mechanisms of anesthesia and pharmacologic actions of anesthetics,
  including their side effects
o Techniques used in anesthesia and critical care, including airway
o Regional anesthesia: techniques, mechanisms of action, complications
o Problems related to specific types of surgery, including ambulatory
o Chronic pain, especially if it is the result of surgery or invasive
o Monitoring (including blood testing) in anesthesia and critical care
o Blood coagulation, fluids and transfusion in anesthesia and critical
o Physician-patient interactions and ethical problems in anesthesia
  and critical care
o Inflammatory response to invasive procedures
o Shock (any cause) and cardiac arrest
o Acute organ dysfunction and methods of organ function replacement
o Drug therapy (including nutrition) in the ICU
o Trauma care
o Sedation and analgesia in the ICU
o Outcome studies, including notably postoperative effects of anesthesia

  and analgesia but also effects of preoperative investigations and
  that can modify outcome after surgery or any other invasive stressful
o Risk reduction in surgical and ICU patients
o Organizational aspects of anesthesia and efficiency of operating
  room capacity

As an open access journal, Anesthesiology Research and Practice  
enables immediate, world-wide, barrier-free, online access to the
full text of its research articles. The main advantage of open
access journals is that their readership is not limited to
subscribing institutes, leading to higher rates of downloads and
citations than comparable subscription-based journals. Additionally
the journal has a distinguished International Editorial Board with
extensive academic qualifications, ensuring that the journal maintains
high scientific standards and have a broad international coverage.

Furthermore, the articles of the journal are electronically published
on an accelerated article-by-article basis as soon as they are
accepted for publication in order to rapidly disseminate the published
content to the readership of the journal.

Manuscripts are invited and should be submitted by one of the authors
of the manuscript through the electronic Manuscript Tracking System
(MTS) at All manuscripts are subject to
peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence.
Submissions will be considered by an associate editor and independant
peer-reviewers, whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.
