I am a member of a small group of Simon Fraser University PDP students. We are fortunate in that we have the opportunity to focus on the Elementary Reading Curriculum in both Curriculum Designs and Designs for Learning: Reading courses. We are researching the Reading Power Program philosophy in order to suggest the programs usage along with a year-long implementation strategy in a Grade 4 Language Arts program.

Our hopes are that you might share with us as many, and as much, of the following in order to further our goals of becoming effective teachers:

Your experience and any research on the Reading Power philosophy and each of the Powers on academic, professional and clinical levels. Anecdotal comments are prized!

Research carried out on the Reading Power Program itself that you might know of. How Reading Power is "Fad Resistant," and how Reading Power remains relevant across multiple learning environments and contexts.

WE ARE ATTEMPTING TO BUILD A YEAR PLAN AND MONTHLY AND WEEKLY PLANS FOR GRADE 4 LANGUAGE ARTS. WE COULD VERY MUCH USE GUIDANCE AND SAMPLE PLANS (TO BE CITED IN OUR WORK). WE HAVE FOUND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND TEMPLATES AND PLANS OF ANY TYPE, ACROSS ANY CURRICULUM AND GRADE LEVEL. PERHAPS YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO RESOURCE US WITH THIS INFORMATION SO VALUABLE TO NEW TEACHERS?

Folks we might contact for further research; including those actually utilizing the program. We are looking for a speaker to collaborate with us and attend our class during a presentation near the end of July.

Thank you for making a difference
and empowering others to do likewise,
