Up for auction are 5 HISTORICAL ROMANCE BOOKS IN PAPERBACK (Descriptions
from books):

1)    RUNAWAY by Heather Graham (1995) (HISTORICAL ROMANCE / The 1st
book in the `Old Florida's MacKenzies' series) – "I
accepted you as payment on a gambling table because you're
incredibly beautiful.  And I want you for the same reason."  His
smoldering gaze claimed her long before a poker hand made her his.  Tara
Brent knew she could never escape this dark and brooding stranger who
promised her safety, with a price: marriage—and a life together in
the lush, lethal wilderness of Florida.  She didn't even know his
name, only the promise of passion, and refuge in his arms….Jarrett
MacKenzie swept his ravishing bride away from New Orleans to his remote
Florida plantation from which she ran.  He couldn't tell her of his
own Seminole roots—or open her guarded heart—until his former
commander, President Andrew Jackson, declared war on the Indians, and a
powerful enemy from Tara's past found his way to their door….

2)    VIOLET by Lauren Royal (2002) (HISTORICAL ROMANCE / The 1st book
in the `Flower Trilogy' series) – "Question
convention." It's the Ashcroft family motto—and it's
something eldest daughter, Violet, has been doing a lot of lately.  For
starters, she's decided not to get married—she'd much rather
be improving her mind than losing her heart.  Especially since most
suitors would surely have their eyes on her considerable inheritance or
on her ravishing younger sisters—not on her plain face….Violet
is convinced that her very eligible neighbor, Ford Chase, is no
exception.  He's handsome, intelligent, even a little
eccentric—his obsessions with astronomy and constructing a watch are
most puzzling indeed!  Violet can't deny she's intrigued.  But
could he ever really—sincerely—be interested in a woman as
serious and self-conscious as she?

3)    THE MARRIAGE TRAP by Elizabeth Thornton (2005) (HISTORICAL ROMANCE
/ The 1st book in the `Trap' series) - From dueling at dawn to
fighting at Waterloo, Jack Rigg, Earl of Raleigh, has seen his share of
danger. But now he faces his greatest fear: wedlock by ambush. It began
in Paris, when he rescued an alluring card shark named Aurora from a
tavern brawl. In the safety of Jack's rooms they shared a passionate
embrace. He never suspected their compromising encounter would change
his life completely. The idea that a poor vicar's daughter should marry
Jack Rigg might be amusing--if it weren't so imperative. When she last
saw Jack, Ellie Hill was disguised as "Aurora," indulging her gift for
gaming. Now she's in trouble with the law -- and Jack is her alibi. She
must hope he'll be more of a gentleman than he was to Aurora. But as
they forge an unlikely and increasingly amorous alliance, someone with a
deadly agenda wants to end their union before it begins.... (MINOR
CORNER WEAR / PRICE STICKER ON BACK COVER)

4)    THE LOST DUKE OF WYNDHAM by Julia Quinn (2008) (HISTORICAL ROMANCE
/ The 1st book in the `Two Dukes of Wyndham' series) – Will
the real Duke of Wyndham please stand up?  Jack Audley has been a
highwayman. A soldier. And he has always been a rogue. What he is not,
and never wanted to be, is a peer of the realm, responsible for an
ancient heritage and the livelihood of hundreds. But when he is
recognized as the long-lost son of the House of Wyndham, his carefree
life is over. And if his birth proves to be legitimate, then he will
find himself with the one title he never wanted: Duke of Wyndham. Grace
Eversleigh has spent the last five years toiling as the companion to the
dowager Duchess of Wyndham. It is a thankless job, with very little
break from the routine…until Jack Audley lands in her life, all
rakish smiles and debonair charm. He is not a man who takes no for an
answer, and when she is in his arms, she's not a woman who wants to say
no. But if he is the true duke, then he is the one man she can never
have …. (MINOR EDGE WEAR)

5)    THE MARRIAGE SPELL by Mary Jo Putney (2006) (HISTORICAL ROMANCE /
The 1st book in the `Stone Saint' series) – Knowing all too
well his distaste for wizards, Abby Barton takes a great risk in
performing healing magic powerful enough to save Jack Langdon, Lord
Frayne, after he suffers a devastating accident.  Her price: Jack's
hand in marriage.  Once she has Jack's name and the child she has
always longed for, Abby is determined to live apart from him so that he
can preserve his reputation—and so that she can stay true to her
gifts.  But neither Abby nor Jack reckons on the deep, long-simmering
passions their marriage ignites.  Now they must challenge each
other's extraordinary powers and deepest desires… for the sake
of a love that may cost them all they cherish. (SOME COVER, EDGE &
CORNER WEAR)
