Hi All,
This years YAPC::Russia is actually in Ukraine, only a short cheap
flight away, no visa needed:
http://event.perlrussia.org/yr2012/
I'll be going. I was about to book my flight and hotel... Then I
realised that potentially I could share an apartment (apartments are
more common than hotels in Kiev) with one or two of you if you are
coming as well.
I've been to Kiev a few times and have been learning Russian, so should
be able to find my way around and help guide.
Unfortunately because I have a class to teach Thursday and Monday, I'm
only going for the weekend and will have to drive to Gatwick :( Usually
I'd prefer to get a bus/train, but there is no other way to be back in
time for my 4:30pm Monday class. If anyone else decides to take the
Gatwick flight they can catch a lift with me.
Flights:

I've been WhizzAir before... I wont again, at least not until the old
IEV airport has been updated. Wasn't nice picking my bag from the pile
which had been dumped from the plane, then pushing to get through
customs, lol. KBP is a modern airport, without any problems.
I'll be taking the Aerosvit flight (only £206), I've flown UIA before
which is their little brother, and that was fine. If I didn't need to be
back however, I'd fly BA as the flight times give you longer in Kyiv.
Mail me on or off list if you are interested
