Details:

When  6:30 pm, Tuesday, 4th of October 2005

Where ABN AMRO Morgans Limited Level 29,

123 Eagle Street (Riverside Centre)

Brisbane CBD  QLD 4000

This month at CFUG QLD:

A tragedy has occurred!!

Our regular supplier of our liquid refreshments (beer and soft drinks) has
just informed me that they won't be able to make this next meeting.

This leaves us with...   _No_Beer_!!! (or soft drinks)

Now, I should be able to wrangle something up myself (so don't panic, there
_will_ be something to drink), but if there were any businesses or
individuals who would like to give a little back to their User Group
Community (in the form of an esky with some ice and drinks in it), and bask
in the appreciation of all the attendees, (and, if you wish, give a 5 minute
promotional talk about yourselves), then please contact me as soon as you
can.

Either phone me on 01419 647 655, or email me at manager@qld....

This meeting is on our now regular first Tuesday of the month night, at our
regular 6:30pm start time, and in our now regular CBD location, high in the
Riverside Centre at the offices of ABN AMRO Morgans.

The lifts to the meeting level are secured, so please try to be there before
6:30pm, to save someone having to come and get you.

This month on the 'easing into...' series,  Gareth Edwards and Barry Beattie
will be evangelising the use of the humble custom tag, forgotten in these
cfc-rich days, and how the custom tag can be an integral part of modern web
applications.

Custom tags have come a long way since the first steps in encapsulating CF
code and can be just as important in developing the 'view' of an MVC app as
much as CFC's are in the 'model'. Code re-use and maintainability,
encapsulation and abstraction of complex HTML, rapid UI development and
standardising the look'n'feel of an app are some areas touched on as well as
opening up a forum in discussing some more advanced aspects and
considerations.

Fresh news this week is also the new ColdFusion 7.01 release this week.
We'll be having a quick look at it and talking about what it has to offer
your next project.

Other news for this week is the demise of the CFAussie list, and its
resurrection as a Google Groups list.

If you haven't already, then make sure you go to:

http://groups.google.com/group/cfaussie
<http://groups.google.com/group/cfaussie>

Get your Google account and subscribe to this list.

The meeting will also have our usual (and ever popular) general open floor
Q&A discussion, so bring your questions and problems.

We will have our regular news update from Macromedia.

As usual there will be free pizza, subways and drinks.

If you haven't already, then please RSVP by noon Tuesday, 4th of October, as
it helps make sure there's enough pizza and subs for everyone.

IF YOU DON'T RSVP, YOU DON'T GO IN THE PRIZE DRAW!

Send that email now!!

Don't miss it.

See you there.

Darren Tracey
