[midgard-dev] Building Midgard with DarwinPorts (partial success)

Hi,
I'm building Midgard with DarwinPorts (I know that Midgard package
for OS X is available with Fink, but we have  our preferences…).
I am now able to build all parts and run spider-admin and aegir
interfaces. However, the midgard-welcome package causes some
problems. The first was that cache directory was not available (it
was looked for in /var, as it really was in /var/local. This seems to
depend on the 'prefix' that is /usr/local for me, if it would be /
usr, then it really should be /var?!). At that point I saw a lot of
content from the first page, but then I changed the code to get past
that and then I got the following:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/local/
share/midgard/midcom/lib/midcom/services/cache/backend/dba.php on
line 104

What would cause this? Aegir and spider-admin interfaces work,
however, so this doesn't seem to be too serious, but something anyhow.

I am now in the process of verifying the build process (delete
everything and build anew until everything is ok). Directory
permissions were a bit troublesome, but there the documents were
helpful.
