Hi all,
a question from a newbie. My fink has an obsolete and incomplete (without
gfortran) version of gcc installed, but I cannot remove it as fink denies it
is installed:
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
656 22:58:20 0.1$ sudo fink list gcc4.0
Information about 2520 packages read in 0 seconds.
i gcc4.0 4.0.1-5465 [virtual package representing the
gcc 4.0.1 compiler]
657 22:58:24 0.1$ sudo fink remove gcc4.0
Information about 2520 packages read in 0 seconds.
WARNING: gcc4.0 is a virtual package, skipping.
Reading buildlock packages...
/sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait --remove gcc4.0
dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove gcc4.0 which isn't installed.
658 22:58:31 0.1$
^^^^^^^^^^
My attempts to update it were equally futile.
Installing a newer version of gcc (4.2) with gfortran on top of 4.0 does not
seem to help, as somehow the old one (4.0) takes precedence and reports that
the gfortran does not exist, even though `which gfortran' shows it in
/sw/bin all right
Does anyone know a way out of this vicious circle?
I am afraid I am still using Mac OSX 10.5.6 (Leopard I think it is called)
thanks in advance
