[Flightgear-users] Model/Scenery graphics conversion on Linux

I love the work; it's beautiful. Sure, the scenery is sparse
compared to 'the other guy who will remain nameless" but let's face it:
no one's getting paid to do every city.  This is a labor of love.  Even
so, it still rocks AND doesn't expose me to viruses and the circus of
Windows, so....YAY!

But in the conversion from one environment to the other, Linux lacks
a lot. There's a beautiful Mosquito model I love, but looks weird.  It
requires a file format change.

Does anyone have a handle on what this requires on my end? I didn't
see much from Google that I could understand, as a user.  Is this
something we can run through that massive stack of graphics tools that
are there, as a startup script or something?

From a user's standpoint, what can be done?
