EXAMPLEs OF ABOVE
1. PUPPETS: Sock Puppets, Shadow puppets, Painted hand puppets, Junk-Box
puppets, Broom puppets, etc. (and this is just to name a few)
2. CHARACTERIZATION: Create own character, mix two characters, copy a
character (from another story), modify the story character, animal
character like human, character from my life (say mummy), etc.
3. STORIES: Complete a story, change a story, make a story, opposite
story, story in reverse order, re-tell story, etc.
4. EXPRESSION: Puppet show, group show, behind the (light) curtain,
talking machine, voice only show, in the camera show, musical show, etc
[image: p1.jpg]
EXAMPLEs OF ABOVE
1. Theater activities - eg: talk like different people, walk like
different people, in groups of two show an aeroplane using your body, in
teams of three show a dentist extracting a tooth and so on. Activities
which open up child’s body, voice expression - and yes mind!
2. Team Games with fun challenges - eg: Make a tent out of bed-sheet in
5 min, blindfolded make niumbu-paani with one team-mate giving
instructions, Race the track with a newspaper placed between the back of
team mates or all carrying a stick on their feet, and so on.
3. Stories & Characterization activities: Given situation create a
story, given a scene create the story before and after, given a story add
totally unrelated characters, make characters opposite to change the story
- and so on.
4. Presentation: Given the above three, children are given themes,
messages to be conveyed and in different ways they communicate - drama,
musical show, shadow show, mime, improv show, etc
What WE BELIEVE
1. PUPPETS: Its not how good the puppets look. But when child creates it
- child OWNs it. This gives maximum benefits for the child, gained from the
process of creating the puppet itself - be it creativity, expression,
change within - each child will experience it individually.
2. CHARACTERIZATION: To characterize I observe, I relate, I understand
and I explore. The key to child’s learning (and to life) is in interacting
with others, exploring others and understanding others.
3. STORIES: Children can heighten their enjoyment of a story when they
let their imagination turn it, twist it, - literally create something new
out of it.
4. EXPRESSION: What we think is what we say - hence expression and
thinking are closely connected - one helping the other to develop. When
children get a space to express freely - they evolve their learning to a
higher plane.
What WE BELIEVE
1. Theater Activities: Body is so intricately connected to the mind -
that every time we work through our body - we work on our mind. Its a
winning combo. The actual expression does not matter - mere usage creates
magic
2. Team Games: The more children enjoy the fruits of interdependence,
the more they enjoy life itself. And this kind of activities trigger
collective creativity which stimulates our thinking exponentially.
3. Stories & Characterization activities: Children can heighten their
enjoyment of a story when they let their imagination turn it, twist it, -
literally create something new out of it.
4. EXPRESSION: What we think is what we say - hence expression and
thinking are closely connected - one helping the other to develop. When
children get a space to express freely - they evolve their learning to a
higher plane.
