Compiler crashes when started from make, but not from the shell ?!

Hello everyone,

I've run into a bizarre bug, where the compiler (mips-linux-gnu-gcc) crashes
(internal compiler error: Segmentation fault) when it is started from make,
yet it works fine when I copy the command-line produced by make, and run the
compiler from the shell...

Do you have any idea what could be going on?

(I tried disabling the antivirus, MSE. No cookie.)

My environment :
cygwin 1.7.7 under XP SP3
CYGWIN_NT-5.1 lab 1.7.7(0.230/5/3) 2010-08-31 09:58 i686 Cygwin
(Hmmm, I suppose I should try udpating cygwin.)

GNU bash, version 3.2.51(24)-release (i686-pc-cygwin)
GNU Make 3.81 built for i686-pc-cygwin

mips-linux-gnu-gcc version 4.5.2 (Sourcery CodeBench Lite 2011.09-75)

Regards.
