The "Latest..." section still has this sentence in it:

Until there is an OK from legal, I'd consider any effort put
into this as futile. I didn't see anything on jakarta-general.
On legal-discuss, someone wrote a "ping" message on an old
thread to see whether anyone cares, but I can't reply since
I couldn't subscribe to legal-discuss yet. And a message I had
tried to send a few weeks back about another approach to the
LGPL problem has been forwarded there by a moderator, but has
not seen a response yet. Was there anything on the pmc list?
