Welcome to 2009. Interlocked was dark last night for New Year's Day, but
we resume regular dancing next Thursday.
Our schedule for January is:
Thursday, January 08 - Hyde Middle School - John Sybalsky
Thursday, January 15 - *Cupertino Middle School* - Stephanie Langhoff
Thursday, January 22 - Hyde Middle School - John Sybalsky
Thursday, January 29 - Hyde Middle School - Rob French
While this list reflects the schedule of callers as of today, please be
aware who is calling sometimes changes at the last minute.
Next week, we will be starting a new program to incorporate workshop
tips into the regular dance schedule. The callers will be identifying
some calls, concepts, or positions that they think the club can benefit
from additional work on, and they will exercise us through them for
(most likely) two tips in the middle of the evening. Rob and Stephanie
began this informally last month, with a focus on Tally-Ho. Expect to
see more of this, for at least the next few months, after which we will
look at how it is working.
Nearby C-1 events in January are:
Winterfest, King City, January 16-18, is primarily a Plus and Advanced,
weekend, but it includes a part-time C-1 hall. I have not seen this
year's schedule, but in 2008, there was C-1 dancing all of Friday
evening, part-time during the day on Saturday, and all of Saturday
evening. The calling staff is Jerry Story, Bob Baier, Tony Oxendine, Tim
Crawford, and Steven Edlund. $38 per person. More information at
http://www.winterfestsqd.com/ .
Cook's Barn, Orangevale, January 23-25, has Bill Haynes calling C-1
through C-3A. C-1 sessions are Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening.
Most tips are on computer assignment, and there will be a singles
rotation. $7 per session. More info at
http://www.rhcent.com/events.html .
PACE NorCal (January 9-11 in Pleasant Hill) is a C-2 month, so the only
C-1 dancing there will be a star tip at the end of the Friday evening
A-2 dance. Mike Jacobs is calling this month -- A-2 Friday evening, C-2
Saturday morning and afternoon, C-3A Sunday morning, and C-3B Sunday
afternoon. $8 per session ($7 for members).
To find out more about these and other events, you can, on any club
night, check the flyers book displayed on the side of the stage. If you
know of any C-1 events not in the book, please let me know (or even
better, give me flyers for them).
Thanks once again to Pat and Dick Shank for hosting the 2008 Interlocked
Not-Quite-Annual Party. Jan and I had fun, and everyone else there
seemed to as well.
Last of all, I just want to remind everyone that to check the club's
calendar and to get other information about Interlocked Squares, you
can always go to the Interlocked website,
http://www.interlocked.org/ .
I hope I will get to see all of you this month dancing at Interlocked.
