I think a new implementation of something is much more appealing than improving, testing, debugging, or replacing suboptimal libraries. Even if we would like additional person power in existing projects. Therefore, I wanted to offer project that is new, counts as the desired "I make my own jabber client", but is not YAJC. But after all it's the choice of the person who does the job.
