I sent an email to this forum before I'd finished the registration process.  Please ignore it if it finally gets posted.  

I was frustrated with camel-case naming convention that the binding was defaulting to for xml elements.  

I've found the solution in the customizations documentation and the use of the 'name-style' attribute.  

So, never mind!
