Actually I believe the rationale was that the S&L acitivity already provides the runner features through the search part so we did not decativate the features and experience delievered by KRunner but one of the UIs through which it does (krunner technically is a library that is part of libplasma IIRC). Scott knows more about why it was removed from autostart though.
