Guys,

Been kind of lurking  here only reading the digest of this new list.

I have about 8 hours in  L-39s teaching formation (a while back)
I have 2 flights  (:30 each in the back seat) in L-29s, one with the standard
engine and one  with the J-12.
I prefer the L-29 with  the J-12 in it.
I really do honest to  God like the L-29's looks better than the L-39. (Yea
I'm the  jock in high school who took a girl with buck teeth, a crooked eye,
slightly over weight, to my senior prom, but what can I  say?)
Markets go up and down  so will the price of L-29s AND L-39s.  In the end its
all relative  isn't it?  There is no shame in this.
Your west coast fly-in  is a good idea.  But you guys on the east side can do
the very same  thing.  All it takes is one of you to think up a good spot to
go  to.

I know some of you on  this list belong to RPA and are familiar with AYS
(Waycross GA).  That  would be an excellent place for a get together because it

just about dead center  in the south east region of the US.  But there are other

places.  What  about UIN Quincy, IL, NE of St Louis?  Big warbird restorer
there, nice big  runways, plenty of room on and around the airport.

Brain storm it.   These get together's are the best ways to work out problems
with and about your  airplanes.  There are many ways to skin a cat as there
are cat skinners,  you just need to meet all the cat skinners, same with
airplanes.   Airplanes fly by the same laws of physics but how does one approach

those  laws?  Which ways are best?  Believe me gentlemen 99% of the time it  is

matter of personal taste.

Do I own a L-29?   No, but I'm a retired airline guy who's just lost his
retirement and may  not be able to keep what I've got.  Count your  blessings.

Jim "Pappy" Goolsby

Pappy, you sly dog, I didnt know you were lurking out here. Waycross
would be a great place, unfortunately there are scant few 29's in this
part of the country. I've been wanting to host a flyin out of X35
(Dunellon, FL) since they have the cheapest Jet-A in the area, and the
Yankee AF there would be very agreeable to letting us use their
facilities. I've wanted to host an RPA venue there also.

Hi  John and Noel,

I would guess shipping would be approx. $500 from Reno to Texas.

I have 2 zero time overhauled engines with log book remaining out of  11.
None were any better than the others.  They each have the tail  pipe.
When you open the fiberglass storage pods they are wrapped in paper and
sealed in plastic with desiccant moisture absorbing bags stuffed in them and  they

look brand spanking new.

As Pete Taylor in Red Bluff, CA put it: "They look like a brand new Rolex
Watch!"

1 went to Marvin Mixon who just came to Reno yesterday and bought one  for
his FOD damaged engine in Houston.
1 shipped to Southern California for a guy that is putting a L-29 together
that was imported with a bad engine.

2 have been delivered to northern California
1 shipped to central California
1 shipped to Illinois

1 shipped to Las Vegas

I'm putting a new one in my L-29 and keeping one as a spare (2 engines in
Reno)

Only two remaining and all of the 11 engines.
1973
1982

The years of manufacture of the engines were:
1961  SOLD
1970  SOLD
1971  SOLD
1972  SOLD
1972  SOLD
1972  SOLD
1973
1975  SOLD
1977  SOLD
1982
1983  SOLD

Personally, I'll go anywhere I can non-stop. Thats between 300-400 miles. Any excuse
to go somewhere.
I appreciate you guys that take the initiative to work on putting a fly-in together.

Does anyone know when the Kissimmee FAST clinic is? And whose in charge.

Thanks.

Noel, good to hear you're alive and (well?)

Icy (pretty cool)

Or maybe (in American English) (he says taking a sideways swipe...)

Gaz (as in Gaz Guzzler)
Haz (as in hazardous)

Yep.... GAY

Looks like you win a free zero timed overhauled M701-500 engine with tail
pipe and original logs!

Yes exactly..... 429 CG   Equals GAY CG.

Gregs plane is blue and yellow just like the Blue Angels.

You should see how it attacts bees.  The little buggers try to mate  the
thing.  The airplane is like a flower for bees...

Ah, it still is the fastest one out here on the west coast with the new
overhauled engine in it.
