just another thought - if these notes have originally been written for another instrument - let's say for a piano - and later it was transcribed: does it not make sense sense to keep the original quarter (perhaps one could parenthesize it…)? I believe the quarter rhythm is better marked with a quarter note in analogy to the following quarters.
