No FICON was designed for this ;-)    Maybe the FCP folks never anticipated
to swap out 100's of servers in a few hours and expecting it to work.

And we have not even told the OP that the opposite (swapping out the disk
subsystem) is even more tedious because it requires changes in each Linux
guest. I find it hard to believe that nobody tried to put a DNS into the
SAN...
