[M-Dev] M as basic for a newsreader?

Ok, I am interested in using M as basic for developing a own newsreader.
It make me happier if you think it is possible.

I didn't know enough about NNTP handling, message de-/encoding and low-
level things like that. That is why I am not able to build a newsreader
from scratch. ;)

You know I am more interested in the gui and ergonomic things.

Would you think it is possible to improve M to a good newsreader?
Or would you prefere a complete fork of M? I don't like forks because
that is like I am saying "Your software is bad I will make a better
one!". But of course I don't think this way! :)

Of course I need to get more in your code to decide for myself if it is
possible to use M as basic for a newsreader. But what do you think about
that?
