Second question response.  A "normal" master cylinder in the brake line wont
work as it only has a single pressure line out.  You need a pressure line in
and out of the cylinder. This preserves fluid pressure when "normal" braking
is undertaken.  An "open" fluid reservior would simply fill when you applied
the brakes and your braking system would not retain its pressure to activate
the slave cylinders.
