I work at a University in Australia and I have the same problem from
outside the Uni. They block at the border of our network. It could be
something like that. I have to VPN in and then run ARD.

Is there a firewall on the machine that is blocking the port?  Maybe a
port forward is needed.

Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to a client machine. The client is
activated for sure (in Preferences panel etc) yet when I look on the
administrator machine it says the current status for the client computer
is ARD Not Active. I was able to connect to the same client on a local
network, but now that I am connecting from another network, I'm not
having any luck.

I have gone to the scanner, typed in the accurate network address
(starting 68...), and the correct user name and password- however, it
won't verify.

Any suggestions? Thanks,
