It gets boring after the novelty wears off.

The composite extension on xorg, together with window-shading etc enabled in
KDE does some of these fancy things already.

You'll need a fairly nasty graphics card though. Mine's an ATI Radeon 9250,
and the 100fps OpenGL rendering BARELY meets the requirements for all this
stuff.
