As expected, DISH's retransmission negotiations with Chambers Communications tripped over the wire, pulling the plug on three Oregon-based ABC affiliates. Going dark
were KOHD Ch. 9 in Bend, KEZI Ch. 9 in Eugene and KDRV Ch. 12 in Medford. DISH offered an extension but, said SVP Dave Shull, "Chambers refused, continuing to demand a nearly 500 percent rate increase and unreasonable contract terms in order to
return the channels to the air."

In other retrans news we have a case of "shoe-on-the-other-foot: Emboldened by its national programming deal with Fox, Time Warner Cable has reportedly placed "onerous"
conditions on any acceptance of Sinclair Broadcast's offer of binding arbitration for their retrans dispute (according to Sinclair, anyway). We don't know exactly how "onerous" those conditions are but Glenn
Britt and team appear to have pulled off a coup.•

SkyLog: DIRECTV Boosts Share in SKY Brasil; AT&T Sends Cupcakes; YouTube Eyes Net Programmer

Markets & Money: Say the online analysts at Trefis: The Disney/Netflix deal is expected to earn Disney anywhere between $150M and
$200M during its one-year period. Assuming the deal is renewed, and given no significant costs (the content is already in Disney's bag) the deal could add "close to $2.3B of value to Disney." --- DIRECTV has boosted its share in SKY Brasil to 93% via a $604.8M cash for stock deal with Globo, which retains the remaining 7%. --- GCI has upped its stock repurchase program by $100M bringing total authorizations to
$127.8M. --- Cablevision's board approved moving forward with the Rainbow spinoff.

Gov't & Regs: AT&T delivered 133 boxes of Georgetown Cupcake treats to FCC officials, says the NationalJournal. Exact flavors are not known. --- Twenty-nine US Senators,
headed by Georgia's Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson sent a letter to the FCC's Julius Genachowski decrying any "so-called 'Open Internet' rules." It's "an unjustified
and unnecessary expansion of government control," they said. The rules are expected to pass anyway.

Google Gobble: Too many communities want that Google high-speed fiber service, says new VP of access
services Milo Medin (you might remember him from @Home in the mid 90's) ... thus the project has been delayed. Well, except for a 850 home "beta"at Stanford.
Hmmm.

• Also: Google's YouTube is in talks to buy Next New Networks, an original online content studio. Networks launched by the group include "HungryNation," "Indy Mogul" and "Channel
Frederator." The company's videos are credited with more than a billion views on YouTube.

• Meanwhile, Netflix has a new search app on Google TV devices; it lets viewers search, browse and watch any video available in the Netflix
streaming catalog.

Programming: Comedy Central and The Onion are teaming for the It debuts on the Comedy Central site on Jan. 11. --- Showtime has ordered up a second season of "The Green Room." --- Nick has plans for five new series in early 2011 including "Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures" a multi-camera buddy comedy and "Power Rangers Samurai." --- Comcast has launched its seventh annual "Troop Greetings on Demand" delivering special holiday greetings from military personnel stationed overseas to their loved ones back home. --- Discovery will add two new reality
shows featuring hidden treasures found in everyday junk for 2011.

Analyze This: The latest research from the Communications Workers of America says that 49% of US residents do not
meed the FCC's minimum broadband standard of 4Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream.

Up in the Sky: The Xinhau News Agency's
CNC World has selected Eutelsat to beam its signal to homes across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, starting Jan. 1.•
