Yes, that of course is essential.  This is usually achievable if you  
create the users in the same order as you did when you first created  
the accounts.  I don't think this is the best solution though, I  
would either create the accounts with a script (difficult) or just  
upgrade the machines with a package-based NetInstall set.  It doesn't  
scale well, but if scalability is a problem, you need to look at a  
directory service and network-based home directories to eliminate the  
need for an upgrade at all (simply reimage and not worry about user  
data).
