I accidently tripped over something that surprised me last week. I
netrestored a lab of eMacs without making any naming files and found
that all of the computers that belonged to a computer list in
Workgroup Manager were automatically renamed after the rebooted. The
few that had not been added to a computer list had the generic name
of the image and had to be renamed.
I haven't found any reason not to use NetRestore, so I can't say how
things work using Apple's NetInstall. But the tab-delimited file
works like a charm when added to the NetRestore configuration.
Provided you have also added the post-action script. Does NetInstall
need the added script?
I don't know if this will help you at all, but thought it was worth
mentioning.
