Are Lada Kalina sold in France? Somebody mentioned that there is a Lada Dealer in Austria and they are selling Lada 2110. I assume they must be selling Lada Kalina by now?

However, to get it registered over here, it would probably need to pass an SVA test which might be much more of a challenge ! (Something as simple as not having a MPH speedo will fail a UK SVA test)

I actually think the Matiz is a very good little car, and if it wasn't made in some far eastern country, which makes many people instantly prejudiced against it, would have been a worthy successor to the Mini (being much more in keeping with the thinking behind the original Mini, than the BMW 'designer label' fashion accessory replacement). And, yes, I have driven one. The styling is atractive by 'modern' standards, and much better than others cars in the same market sector. But, I have to admit that the rest of the Daewoo range is nothing to get excited about !

>    I E-mailed G.M's UK office recently asking about the Niva, being a Chevrolet badged car I was wondering if it would be made available in the UK, sadly their answer was disappointing, they're only interested in selling their re-badged Daewoo rubbish (isn't the Matiz the most ugly car you've ever seen?) and as there is already a 4WD in the ex-daewoo range the poor old Niva won't ever be seen on UK shores. You're best bet is as Peter says, drive to France and find a dealership there, it'll be cheap enough but you'll still have to pay import duty when you bring it to "rip off Britain" and I doubt the warranty would be valid over here, being left hand drive as well, the car will be a right bugger to sell on when you've finished with it, most british drivers only want right hand drive (for obvious reasons). To be honest mate, I think the new Lada range of cars is pug ugly, and they scream out "late eighties car" which is definitely not a good thing (citroen saxo? renault 19? hyundai pony? YUK!). would much rather try to get hold of a brand new "Lada Classic", much more durable, and much easier to sell on afterwards.
