[VBDOTNET] VS 2005 - Debugger not working
by Jim MacDiarmid

Hi everyone,

I just installed  VS2005 after sever prior installs and uninstalls in an
attempt to get the debugger to work. Everytime I go to run the test
application in the VS 2005 IDE (clicking debug on the main menu, and chosing
start debugger, I get the following error message:

"Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging.

A debugger dll, msdbg2.dll, is not correctly installed.  Please repair your
Visual Studio installation via 'Add or Remove Programs' in control panel.

If the problem persists, you can manually register msdbg2.dll from the
command prompt with regsvr32..."

I've tried both the automatic repair and registering the dll by hand, but
that didn't work either.  I did find a post in MSDN forum online where
someone gave the suggestion of uninstalling VS2005, then turn off the
debugger server (MDM), delete the VS7Debug folder, then reinstall as normal.
Suffice it to say that this did not work for me either.

I'm hoping someone else has encountered this before and may have a fix.

Thanks in advance for any help on this,

Jim
